We no longer offer Walk-in, however, we do offer a Duty Clinic. We do maintain limited openings for general public access. The Duty Clinic requires appointments to be booked in advance of your arrival to the clinic.
The majority of appointments are available to our rostered patients within the practice for more urgent issues that arise. This service assists when an appointment with your regular family doctor is not readily available.
Examples of visits we might see in our duty clinic include: UTI’s and other possible infections, sore throats or sore ears, tick bites, routine medication refills (narcotics are not prescribed). The Duty Clinic cannot provide emergency level services nor can we follow your care on a regular basis like a family Doctor or Nurse Practitioner would do.
If you are in need of a primary care provider, please register with the Province’s patient registry by calling 811 or visiting https://needafamilypractice.nshealth.ca
There are currently no closures affecting our clinic.
If you have a medical concern after-hours, please call 811 to speak with a registered nurse.
If you have a medical emergency, please call 911 or proceed to your nearest emergency department.

Appointments & Visit Information
- Appointments are required for prescription renewals
- Depending on patient care needs, wait times will vary
- Our hours may vary depending on Doctor availability
- Appointments are now available for our Duty doctor instead of Walk-in
While our Doctors strive to meet their appointment times, we do recognize that this is not always possible. Wait times can vary. This is due to the nature of medical need that can arise at any given moment, requiring more comprehensive care. Our team is committed to always do their best to serve the best interests of all patients and we do appreciate your understanding when such circumstances arise.
The doctor’s schedule can change on short notice such that our operation hours may be affected. You are welcome to check our website to confirm operating hours which will include any snow closures.
Cancellation Policies
Duty Clinic
Should you not attend a scheduled appointment with a Duty doctor and do not provide 24 hours notice of cancellation, you may be charged for the visit and/or may not be permitted to schedule appointments with our Duty doctor in the future. This policy is in place due to the need of so many Nova Scotians not having a primary care provider. Every available appointment is important to those who need one and we do not want to see these go unused by those in need.
Primary Care / Specialty Services
To ensure accessibility to all patients and to shorten wait times for appointments, our clinic policy is to send a letter with invoice to the patients who do not arrive nor call to cancel an appointment at least one day prior to the scheduled appointment time. This policy applies to all appointments at the clinic- with Physicians, specialists or Family Practice Nurses.
Fees charged for missed visits, will be based on the appointment type you were booked for, under Doctor’s Nova Scotia’s guidelines for unpaid service fees. Please know that multiple missed visits without prior cancellation (24 hours notice for Family Practice, 48 hours notice for counselling and specialty appointments), could also result in your being discharged as a patient at our clinic.
Booking / Health Cards / Insurance
Where possible, please inform our medical office assistant of the reason for your visit to assist with scheduling. Often, time restricts the amount of medical issues that can be addressed during a visit. If you have multiple medical concerns, another appointment may be needed. If more than one family member is attending, an additional appointment time will be required.
Please remember that you may billed for any missed appointments with less than 24 hours notice. (48 hrs for counselling and specialty appointments)
Always bring your valid, current provincial health card. You may be asked to present your health card at each office visit and staff will often double check your current address, phone number etc.
Fees may apply for services not covered by MSI or if a current health card is not presented. If you do have valid coverage with MSI which we are unable to confirm at the time of your visit, you may choose to pay for your visit and seek reimbursement directly from MSI. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept Quebec health cards.
